Enhance the shape or size of their calf muscles, solid or soft silicone implants add both mass and definition to the calves. Calf Implant surgery corrects deformities from trauma or disease such as clubfoot, spina bifida or muscle deterioration. The procedure brings a more athletic appearance for men, while women generally prefer more curvy lines and voluptuous sculpture.
Patients are admitted in hospitals for the procedures. For more details and free consultation, you can fill in the inquiry form on our website. All your medical queries will be answered.
The procedure is performed under local anesthetic or general anesthetic. The legs are measured at a pre- operative visit and appropriately sized implants are ordered and prepared. An incision is made in the fascia of the Gastrocnemius (calf) muscle and a pocket is created between this fascia and the underlying muscle. These implants are placed through small incisions in the creases behind the knee. The pocket is enough to fit the implant properly. Lastly, the leg is examined and if the result seems good then the incision is closed.
Patients are advised to take complete bed rest for 24 hours following the Calf Implant surgery. Keeping the legs elevated reduces the swelling and pain. Thus, patients should stay off their feet for about a week. A long acting local anesthetic is left in each implant pocket for the patient's comfort. You may experience pain for the first two days, the pain associated is with a hard workout with those muscle groups. Compression stockings and shoe with a 1.5 to 2 inch heel to relax the calf should be worn for about three weeks. During the Calf Implant recovery time, post-surgery activities are restricted severely for about six weeks, especially gym activity. Antibiotics will be recommended for pain and inflammation (for muscle spasms). Calf Implant surgery incisions are made in the natural crease behind the knee, where the leg bends. The scars should flatten and fade with time although they may be raised and red for months. Follow up visits to the doctor is essential. You should at least wait a week to ten days to return to work. The results are immediate although you must wait for the swelling to subside. Calf Implants are supposed to last your lifetime and they resemble the appearance of a tone and "worked out" muscle.
If you are in good health with no serious health concerns and have realistic expectations, you may be a good candidate for Calf Implant surgery.
Calf Implants are usually made from medical grade silicone, a pliable, yet firm, solid piece of silicone.
There is only one technique so far and two insertion types.
